Fixing Windows Related Issues

In a recent ticket, a user reported an issue with being unable to open image files in the Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 7. The application would hang if you would try to open image files of format *.bmp, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.png

The issue was a corruption of certain system files responsible for launching the Photo Viewer application.

To resolve this issue, and similar issues with applications built into windows, please follow the following steps:
  1. Open the Command Prompt as Administrator
  2. Run the following command: sfc /scannow
  3. Allow the program to fix any issues. Search for errors on TechNet or similar location.
